42-02-01-01. Native American scholarship purpose and duties. The North Dakota Native American scholarship board was established to provide scholarships to North Dakota resident students who are members of a federally recognized Indian tribe. Students may qualify through an application procedure established by the board. The board annually issues awards, directs the North Dakota university system in the administration of the awards, establishes appropriate rules and procedures, and encourages members of federally recognized Indian tribes to pursue higher education in the state.
